I have a job interview this week, my first one. I'm 16 and am applying to work during the summer at a cafe. The guy told me its very informal but I would really appreciate tips on the interview. I'm naturally a nervous person.

Make sure you look good, clean, hair combed/styled and dress according to the way people dress who work at the cafe. Don't show skin or chew gum or swear! And act kind, helpful, polite, happy and SMILE ! All restaurant customers want to see a polite %26amp; happy server when dining out. Good luck!Job interview advice - best answer will be awarded!?
You'll be fine. When I went for my first proper job interview at 16 I stupidly told my boss that my I left my chamber-maid job before because I got sacked! He even joked 'just for future reference, I wouldn't mention that in an interview!'
I'm sure you can't be worse than I was haha,
Just be yourself, be friendly, because you're going to have to keep working there and getting to know the people you will be working with if you do get the job.
You could even say you are a bit nervous and make a joke of itand keep it all light-hearted.
Don't be afraid to say good qualities about yourself, boss's like to hear this and do not think you are being big headed. I used to be afraid of that.. but they like to hear things like 'I am a conscientious, hard-working person who is willing to learn' and 'I am friendly and have very good people skills. I believe I will work well with the public.'
Also, remember there are a lot of people out there who do not have a clue. My brother's company were doing interviews and asked for some good qualities about the person, and two people said they were boring! one person said they were anal, and another said they were bossy!
Good luck, You'll be fine, and I hope you get the job!
Arrive 10-15 minutes early and dress casual-it never hurts to be better dressed but dressed worse is always bad. Maybe look at the way their employees are dressed as a guide. Arrive with a good mood too. Don't be nervous but be alert. Pay attention to the way the interview went during and afterwards in case you don't get the job-it's good experience for future interviews you'll have in the future. Good luck!
I was in this position when i first was about to have a job interview. I was so nervous but it really wasnt that bad. But one thing, do dress up. Comb your hair, if its long put it up. Put it up nice though not just a throw up ponytail. or a french braid. Wear nice clothes, maybe a plain shirt and some slacks. Thats what i wore to my last one, on wednesday, and i have orientation monday =]
I've had 4 job interviews in 3 months. My mom works with someone who used to be in Dietary, she would be the interviewer, she said that anyone who wore baggy clothes and had long stringy hair [not put up or back], she wouldnt even consider.
I wish i would have known that earlier because to my first three interviews i wore jeans and a tshirt, baggy i might add=/
but im glad i dressed up for this one, it was def worth it.
best of luck to you.
Just go in with the attitude that in 15 minutes or so I'll be walking out again.
I have nothing to lose so I'll just give it my best shot.
Get inside the interviewers mind and give him the answers you believe he will want to hear.
Don't take it too seriously - it's only a job in a cafe! - and try to break the ice with a joke or two, this will help you to relax.
Good luck.
Simply, make them like you, if they like you and can see spending hours a day with you, day after day then they'll probably hire you. Approach it with an ';how can I help attitude'; not an ';what's in it for me attitude'; . If people like you they'll see the best in you and want to have you involved in their business. --good luck
my best suggestion to you is that you go into Google and research interview questions. Take the questions and look in the mirror. Ask your self questions like, ';why should I hire you?'; and while looking in the mirror practice the answer. This will help you work on the nerves, make sure you're making eye contact and also to ensure that your facial expressions and body language match your response.
Best of luck to you!
