2008 Olympics. 10 points for the best advice. Thank you?

Why do people protest the olympics? Thank you

P.S.

I am sure it is not all about Human Right issue between China and Tibet.2008 Olympics. 10 points for the best advice. Thank you?
la la la...who cares...la la la2008 Olympics. 10 points for the best advice. Thank you?
I believe the people aren't protesting the Olympic games per se. You're on the right track, it's about Human Right issues with China and Tibet. I think most people look forward to the games themselves, but are trying to bring attention to these important issues.
It is MOSTLY about Tibet.
boycott them.
Nothing to do with Human Rights.....Tibet is using the Olympics to blackmail China into giving it independence...and the media in those countries that see China as the emerging power in the world are running scared and painting China in as bad a light as they can hoping to stave off the inevitable...
i think people protest the olympics becouse they dont think it is right for people to compete against other countreis
honestly is this for a test or report or something cuz y would u need to know tht????????????????
People protest the olympics because of the disgusting way that China treats Tibet.

Some of the other comments that I have read on this question are disgusting...

The Olympics are not protested because people like to whine, or because they are jealous.
b/c they claim that chinas polluted. but i say that they're jealous b/c there country wasn't chosen for the olympics. i think all these countries should shut up and just compete.
It does not really matter, nor should the US butt into World Affairs in that manner (look what is happening in Iraq and Afghanistan.....).

If the Tibetian Monks and citizens want to riot about what China is doing to them, then they should let their Government consult peacefully with China and compromise something..... The USA cannot always butt in, because that's like acting ';power hungry'; and the democrats/liberals like Nancy Pelosi always do foolish things like getting involved and blame the Republicans/Conservatives for their actions.
some bprotest because they dont want to look bad infront of other countrys that they lost an event... especilly china...

other because the best player go to the olympics and the competition level is high so they might play harder and have a higher level of getting injured..
because people need SOMETHING to whine about.
The Olympics are about sports, and about different Countries joining in and competing against each other. It is a great way for people to learn other cultures and with that knowledge make them understand each other better.

It isn't political, or at least it shouldn't be. Tibet is using this as an opportunity to try and force China to give in to what they want. They are China's problem and nothing to do with the rest of the World. They won the bid to host the Olympics and should go ahead and do so. They aren't going to give in to the blackmailing tactic of Tibet, and good on them.
u got it wrong sorry ,Tibetians are catching the opportunity to embarrass China internationally and force it into declaring an independent state ,thats the number one issue for protests ,there is other causes like discrimination ,human rights in China ,its a mean to an end ,u cannt get so much publicity if u dont use something heavy and global and the Olympics is the best
Currently there麓s no media allowed in China (Tibet), a country that is using military to get rid of protests.

Nobody here can decide if it is right or wrong to boycott China (the Olympic Games) because we have no idea what is happening in Tibet.

We can ask ourselves if it is right for a country to kill people and at the same time kick out the Media so the rest of the world will never know what happened over there.
No one protests the Olympics. Apart China saying people do ...
boycott the Olympics, pass it on.
Its a world forum for a protest. They are sure to be covered.
I'm not much of a sports fan to begin with and even less an Olympics fan.

China is a communist dictatorship.

It might be allowing some free market freedoms,

but it's pretty communistic in other ways.

The IOC,

by allowing Beijing to host them this year is complicit in the communism.

If you take part of the Olympics you take part in that complicity.

The harsh measures against Tibet aren't helping either.
Because that is when the eyes of the world are focused on the country in question. These protesters take advantage of the situation to bring the worlds attention to their problems or disputes and try to shame the government to give in to their demands.
because the olympics make a great platform to vocalize opposition...remember the black US runners in mexico 1968 who raised their fists in defiance of racism in the US...a small protest but a great feat.

then there was the 1980 and 84 olympics - or Munich or probably a dozen other....this is nothing new and if China continues to do what she is doing in the Sudan and Tibet it wouldn't suprise me to see Europe pull out as well as some other countries perhaps even the US.
u tell me y,ur chinese
