Send your tapes to StashSpace.Com and they will digitize them for just $7 tape. They support all tape formats and specialize in family videos. The videos are securely hosted online for you to edit, share and create custom DVDs. You can even get each tape back directly on DVD if you don't want to do the editing.

Go to http://www.stashspace.com to check them out or give them a call. They have excellent customer service. For a christmas present i'm trying to convert my parents old Camcorder tapes to DVD any advice on the best way?
I'm assuming they are HI-8 tapes. This means its analog video, which means you will need an analog to digital converter. They plug into your computer and then you plug the A/V out (three prong, red, white, and yellow cable.) into it. Now you will need some basic video software and a lot of time. Since its analog though, it will take as long as the actual video is. So if a clip is one hour, it will take one hour for it to be captured on the computer. Once you have all of the video on your computer, just edit it if you want, put it all together in one long movie, and burn it to a DVD. Not a CD! A DVD has more room for video. Hopefully you can get the video all onto one DVD, but if not, make sure you have at least 3 DVD's on hand. Hope I helped!

P.S. I have no idea how much video your going to get, so make sure you have enough Hard Drive Space! If not, get a external Hard drive.
